As they expand their team, we're seeking a talented Earth Observation/Geospatial Data Scientist to join them on their mission.

Position Overview: We are searching for a skilled Data Scientist with expertise in carbon monitoring, climate analysis, and environmental control, particularly utilizing space-based technologies. In this role, you'll play a key part in developing algorithms, models, and tools to analyze Earth observation data and derive insights crucial for climate change mitigation and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize satellite imagery, remote sensing data, and geospatial datasets to develop algorithms and models for carbon monitoring, climate analysis, and environmental control.
  • Conduct thorough exploratory data analysis and preprocessing of Earth observation data to ensure data quality and suitability for analysis in carbon monitoring and climate-related applications.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to understand project requirements and translate them into technical solutions using geospatial techniques.
  • Design and implement geospatial workflows and automation pipelines to streamline data processing and analysis tasks for carbon monitoring and climate analysis.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Earth observation technology, remote sensing techniques, and geospatial analytics methodologies relevant to carbon monitoring and climate analysis.
  • Communicate findings and insights effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and visualizations, emphasizing the implications for carbon management and climate change mitigation.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as environmental science, climate science, geoinformatics, or related disciplines.
  • Possess proficiency in programming languages commonly used in geospatial analysis, such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Demonstrate strong theoretical and practical knowledge of remote sensing principles, image processing techniques, and geospatial analysis methods relevant to carbon monitoring and climate analysis.
  • Have experience with remote sensing software packages (eg, ENVI, ArcGIS, QGIS, GDAL) and geospatial libraries (eg, GDAL, Fiona, Pyproj).
  • Familiarity with machine learning and deep learning frameworks (eg, TensorFlow, PyTorch) for analysing Earth observation data in the context of carbon monitoring and climate analysis is advantageous.
  • Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, emphasizing their implications for carbon management and climate change mitigation.
